National Prevention Week Overview:

What is new this year National Prevention Week is a national public education platform showcasing the work of communities and organizations dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of substance misuse prevention and positive mental health. To unite dedicated individuals, communities, and organizations planning prevention initiatives with SAMHSA and its resources, this platform will showcase and elevate your ongoing work.

Each of you plays a key role in making prevention happen, every day, in every community. Prevention helps shield and protect communities from the consequences of substance misuse. Prevention builds community capacity to reduce risk factors and enhance resiliency factors. And prevention involves all community sectors to improve people’s lives.

SAMHSA’s National Prevention Week is here to support our prevention partners and facilitate collective action to improve our nation’s health. National Prevention Week will offer more frequent, ongoing opportunities to celebrate and promote these year-round initiatives and the communities, organizations, and individuals who bring these initiatives to life.
