Early Career Investigator Showcase

NIDA and NIAAA are now soliciting applications from investigators to participate in the ECIS symposium. Applicants at extramural institutions must have current grant support. Eligible awards are: i) a Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Postdoctoral Fellowship [F32], ii) a mentored career development award [K01, K08, K23, K99], or iii) a research project grant [R01, R03, or R21] and meet the definition of a NIH New Investigator/Early Stage Investigator [NI/ESI] of being within 10 years of completing a terminal research degree or medical residency [http://grants.nih.gov/grants/new_investigators/]. Up to six (6) individuals will be selected for this symposium. Each will be provided transportation to this event, one night hotel accommodation and associated per diem expenses up to $1000. Applicants within the NIH intramural program must meet the definition of a NIH NI/ESI. However, intramural investigators cannot be reimbursed for travel expenses. Individuals selected for ECIS will be chosen for the quality of their research, its impact in the field, and its relevance to the mission of NIDA or NIAAA.
