Promising Practices Clearinghouse: Literacy Scholars
This spotlight from the North Carolina Department of Public
Instruction’s Promising Practices Clearinghouse details the
development and implementation of the Literacy Innovation Leaders
Initiative. This initiative provides pre-service teacher candidates
in educator preparation programs (Literacy Scholars) with training in
high-quality literacy instruction, as well as a stipend and ongoing
coaching, and allows them to gain clinical experience serving
students in nearby school districts.
