Monday, May 16, 2016 11:00 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. EDT

Morgan State University 1700 Cold Spring Lane, Baltimore, MD 21251

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is hosting this kick-off event for National Prevention Week 2016 in partnership with Morgan State University. The fifth year of this annual health observance will be held May 15-21, 2016. National Prevention Week showcases communities that are making a difference in overall community health by increasing public awareness of, and action around, mental health and/or substance use disorders. This year’s theme is “Strong As One. Stronger Together,” highlighting that while one person can make a positive difference in their community, when we join together we can achieve a greater impact with our prevention efforts.

Torrey Devitto, who stars as an ER pediatrician in the NBC drama “Chicago Med,” serves as this year’s National Prevention Week Ambassador and appears in the National Prevention Week promotional video.
